Mariam Barkaat is a Lecturer in the Department of Biomedical Engineering Technology at Foundation University Islamabad. Currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, she holds both a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree from Riphah International University.With over two years of research experience, her expertise includes Biomaterials, Digital Image Processing, and Medical Imaging Devices, with specialized technical proficiency in Radiological Devices, Digital Device Design, and Neurostimulation Techniques. Mariam has contributed to the development of innovative healthcare technologies, including an infusion pump and an award-winning Plantar Pressure Measurement Device featuring an auxetic sole, which earned a publication in the International Journal of Scientific & Engineering Research. She is a recipient of the Dean’s Roll of Honor and multiple RISE Talent Awards.

She has also contributed to research in plantar pressure analysis and image processing approaches for brain tumor detection, reflecting her commitment to advancing patient-centered biomedical solutions.
